Brutus won't move. I don't blame him, Big Chief has been riding around all day doing his duties without a lunch break so Brutus is putting his hooves down! Sitting on his haunches and chewing the cud he's quite happy taking a 10 minute rest in the sunshine. It's not like the chief can get him moving on his own. Wonder how long he'll be there?!

Fine detailing in the sculpture can be seen in his individually made feather headdress, textured clothes and base foliage of rocks and grasses.

All sculptures are individually hand made and hand painted which makes each piece unique to you.

►Hand sculpted from ceramic stoneware clay, fired to above 1200 degrees and finished with oxides, stains and acrylics.

MY PROCESS

I hand sculpt all of my pieces from ceramic stoneware clay. Either via coiling or slab building techniques.
Each piece is then dried until leather hard and the clay can be worked on and details added. Further controlled drying takes place to ensure a piece doesn't crack and all the moisture has evaporated.
A first 6 hour kiln firing takes place up to 1000 degrees C then cooled down so decoration such as oxides, underglazes and glazes can be added. A second firing over 8 hours is then done up to 1220 degrees C and finally once cooled I finish many of my pieces by hand painting a cold finish such as acrylics and lustre.

Each piece is carefully constructed and decorated making each one completely unique to you.
