Hare Sculpture, Mad March Hare 'Blair'

Blair needs a very attentive home. He can be a little off the wall, especially in Spring time when hares and bunnies are abound. He gets twitchy and keep checking his pocket watch for the Easter holidays and may need an extra camomile tea to calm him down. Don't forget the carrot for dipping either!

Fine details on the sculpture include his pocket watch, blazer texture with additional mixed media for his whiskers, carrot top and pocket watch chain.

All sculptures are individually hand made and hand painted which makes each piece unique to you and stamped with my own makers signature.

MY PROCESS

I hand sculpt all of my pieces from ceramic stoneware clay. Either via coiling or slab building techniques.
Each piece is then dried until leather hard and the clay can be worked on and details added. Further controlled drying takes place to ensure a piece doesn't crack and all the moisture has evaporated.
A first 6 hour kiln firing takes place up to 1000 degrees C then cooled down so decoration such as oxides, underglazes and glazes can be added. A second firing over 8 hours is then done up to 1220 degrees C and finally once cooled I finish many of my pieces by hand painting a cold finish such as acrylics and lustre.

Each piece is carefully constructed and decorated making each one completely unique to you.
